Aeration

Aeration: FAQs

What is it?

Lawn aeration is a crucial practice in maintaining a healthy and vibrant lawn. This process involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water, and nutrients to penetrate the grassroots, promoting stronger and more robust grass growth.

Why is it beneficial?

By improving soil aeration and reducing compaction, it enhances root growth, nutrient absorption, and water infiltration. This results in a lusher, more resilient lawn, with increased tolerance to stressors such as drought and foot traffic.

When is the ideal time?

For optimal results, spring aeration is recommended after the last significant spring storm, typically starting around the beginning of April. This timing allows your lawn to benefit from improved soil conditions and nutrient absorption as it enters the growing season.

In contrast, fall aeration, typically performed around October, provides much-needed relief for lawns after long, dry Colorado summers, allowing them a rejuvenating period to breathe, recover, and prepare for the winter months.
